Building a new house...items that should be top of your list

Building a house is  a challenging endeavor.

Whether you have retained a General Contractor/Builder,
or if you are the General Contractor for your home.

Details abound. The items planned for and the ones that surprise you.

Top of your list should be planning for future technology and how your
home can be wired for future electrical usage and prepared for solar panels
    installation or for future installation.

Solar still has a higher price tag when specifying on the front end of building a home.

When making choices for your new home, smart choices count.

Weighing the "Smart Home" choices and "Green" home options, look at the long term effects.

Ask yourself... How are these decisions going to effect your every day lives, and benefit you?

The long term savings and less reliance on utilities coming from outside sources,
is a great choice in the long run. The homeowner will have more control of their home during
    power outages and energy shortages.

Consider having your construction waste recycled instead of just throwing it all one big

There are companies that specialize in construction waste and recycling.

In the landscaping, please consider chemical run off into creeks and streams that effect the
    environment and eventually the ocean.

Influence your landscaper or builder to use green landscaping methods and fertilizers for your
     new trees and plants.

Planning wisely and consciously will bring rewarding results in your new home.
